Synopsis
Aditya (Akshay Kumar), an automobile engineer, is as passionate about cars as Shakespeare was about writing. Not only is he an engineer, he is a test driver for the company.

Aditya is engaged to Sonia (Bipasha Basu), a fashion designer about to make her mark. Aditya and Sonia are not on the same wavelength. Sonia is a 21st century woman for whom career came first and she believed in changes. And as much as Aditya tries to overlook those facts, they keep coming in the way.

The marriage date is fixed, and Aditya has to leave for Canada to learn about a new car model to be launched in India. Sonia has to leave for Paris for a fashion show.

Aditya arrives in Canada where his sister Simran (Bhagyashree) is living. He meets the family but does not live with them as the company has given him an apartment close to the workshop. He makes it a point to meet the family on weekends.

Coincidence or destiny makes him bump into Jia (Katrina Kaif) more than once. Jia, daughter of business tycoon Yashwardhan Birla, has come to Canada alone to shop for her wedding with the business giant Karan Oberoi (Anil Kapoor).

Jia is a simple girl with simple needs. She had everything she could ask for in her childhood but never time from her ever-so-busy father. And now the man her father has chosen for her hardly had any time to spend with her either. That is when she found a friend in Aditya. Aditya and Jia manage to spend time with each other and, as time passes, the friendship between them grows.

Being an amazing driver, Aditya gets a chance from his company to participate in a car rally. He persuades Jia to participate with him and they win. On returning from the rally, their car gets stuck in the snow and they have to spend the night together. They share intimate moments, which make them forget that they are engaged to others.

With passing time, they realize they are falling in love. Jia tells Aditya that she believes her father is responsible for her mother's death. Aditya tells his best friend and roommate, Nawab, this. Nawab on a drunken night tells his friend, who is a reporter. The reporter reports it in the morning papers. Jia, extremely hurt, returns to India to marry Karan. Aditya also comes back to India to get married to Sonia and does not attempt to meet Jia. But fate makes them meet for the last time — at Jia’s wedding.

Sonia is the designer at Jia's wedding, and she asks Aditya to bring the wedding dress. They meet but don't say anything to each other. Mr Oberoi asks Aditya to come to the wedding, and Sonia persuades him to come. Jia's friend and Karan's secretary Jenny bumps into Nawab, who once again is drunk, and reveals that it is his fault that Jia's secret was published in the papers. But it is too late. Jia is already married to Karan.
She goes to meet Aditya to tell him that she is sorry. They meet, confess their love, and agree never to meet again. But Karan catches them talking and asks Jia what is happening. She says that she only loves Karan and that Aditya is just a good friend. When Aditya is leaving the wedding, he finds an upside down car, where Jia is after an accident. Petrol is leaking, and Aditya goes in the car to help Jia out. The car catches fire just as Aditya manages to free Jia. He helps her out of the car, while the press and public have gathered around. Aditya accompanies Jia to Karan, telling him that Jia only belongs to him, no one else. Karan pulls Jia's mangalsutra off, and tells her to marry Aditya. The movie ends with them hugging.

Raajneeti

Raajneeti (Hindi: राजनीति, Rājnīti ?, English: Politics) is a 2010 Bollywood political thriller directed and produced by Prakash Jha, with a screenplay by Anjum Rajabali and Prakash Jha, and starring Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpai, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Katrina Kaif, Naseeruddin Shah and Nana Patekar in the lead roles. The film was originally produced by Prakash Jha Productions, and was distributed by UTV Motion Pictures and Walkwater Media. It was shot in Bhopal. The title translates literally as "Politics" and contextually as "Affairs of State". The film draws parallels to the epic Mahabharata where shades of Krishna, Arjuna, Bheema, Duryodhan and Karna can be seen in the characters portrayed by Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai and Ajay Devgan respectively.

Rajneeti was released in theaters worldwide on 4 June 2010, after some controversies regarding similarities between real-life people and the characters in the film, as well as issues about the national anthem.

Plot
The film begins with a quick flashback into the life of Bharti Rai (Nikhila Trikha), the daughter of Chief Minister Ramnath Rai (Darshan Jariwala). Influenced by leftist ideology, she rebels against her father and joins the rival party of leftist leader Bhaskar Sanyal (Naseeruddin Shah). Bharti develops an illicit relationship with Bhaskar, who, guilt-ridden over taking advantage of the younger woman, leaves for parts unknown, having unwittingly gotten Bharti pregnant. Upon the child's birth, he is abandoned in a boat by Brij Gopal (Nana Patekar), Bharti's brother. Bharti later marries Chandra Pratap (Chetan Pandit), the younger brother of Bhanu Pratap (Khan Jahangir Khan). Bhanu leads the Rashtrawadi political party. The government in the state collapses and Bhanu suffers a stroke. In the hospital, he hands over power to his brother Chandra and to Chandra's son, Prithviraj Pratap (Arjun Rampal) — sidelining his own son, Veerendra Pratap (Manoj Bajpai). Veerendra, who believes power is his birthright, demands his uncle's position, and after being rebuffed, enlists support from a Dalit leader, Sooraj Kumar (Ajay Devgan) — who, unknown to both, is Bharti's abandoned son.

Veerendra with the help of Sooraj, has Chandra assassinated in his car, while he is returning from the airport after seeing off his younger son, Samar Pratap (Ranbir Kapoor). In an ensuing drama, Prithvi is arrested by police under the influence of Veerendra and put on trial for a case of raping a woman party worker (Shruti Seth). Samar comes to the rescue and promises that if all charges upon his brother are dropped, his brother will resign and that he is ready to move with his family to the U.S.. Veerendra agrees but the newly released Prithvi begins rallying public support despite his resignation from the party. After Bhanu officially expels Prithvi, the latter splits from the Rashtrawadi party and contests elections under "Jana Shakti party", a new party with Gopal as his mentor and Samar as the executive. Meanwhile Samar's American girlfriend Sarah (Sarah Thompson) arrives in India to see the situation. To raise funds for the new party, Samar shrewdly ensures Prithvi's marriage to their childhood friend Indu (Katrina Kaif), the daughter of a powerful businessman. Indu had always loved Samar, however, Samar only thought of Indu as a friend and loved Sarah.

The film gets murkier with both sides trying every trick to ensure their victory in coming elections. Allegations and counter-allegations are made. Subsequently, Samar uncovers that the real murderer of his father is Sooraj and Veerendra, and decides to take revenge. On the other hand, Prithvi executes the former police officer, who had arrested him and the woman worker at a farmhouse. This infuriates Veerendra and he hatches a plot to assassinate Prithvi. Amidst of all the events, Indu realizes her love for Prithvi and Prithvi accepts her love in return. Also, Sarah is revealed to be pregnant with Samar's child and Samar promises Sarah that he will go to America with her and leave politics. A car bomb is planted in Prithvi's car which kills both Prithvi and Sarah, who was to be dropped at the airport in that car. Devastated by the loss of his brother and girlfriend, Samar decides to retaliate. He suggests Indu to take the reins of the party and arranges the election campaign single-handedly.

Meanwhile, Sooraj is revealed to be the first child of Bharti, who implores him to join his younger brother Samar. Sooraj refuses to part ways with Veerendra and asks his mother to leave. Exit polls predict a victory for Indu's Party and on the counting day, Samar lures Veerendra and Sooraj to an unused factory by spreading a rumor about electronic voting machine being hacked. Veerendra and Sooraj fall in the trap and Veerendra gets shot by Samar and his men. Sooraj requests Samar to leave him and Veerendra till they reach the hospital, but Veerendra dies on the way. Gopal prompts Samar to shoot Sooraj who questions the morality of the act. But Gopal convinces him to take the revenge. Samar shoots Sooraj and takes the revenge for the destruction of his family.
Later the election results are declared, and Indu emerges with majority and is made Chief Minister. Samar is seen asking forgiveness and is seen attempting reconciliation with Indu. Explaining his decision to return to America, he reflects that he always wanted to stay away from politics as politics is a game that brings out the "inner devil" . Indu is also revealed to be pregnant with Prithvi's child, while Samar leaves India to look after Sarah's mother and settle there

Critical reception
In the Indian press, Rajneeti scored 5.5/10 on the critic ratings aggregation site Reviewgang.
In India, Mayank Shekhar of Hindustan Times rated it 3/5 and said, "None of the actors assembled on stage let him (the director) down; right from an unusually inspired Rampal to his powerful, polar opposite Bajpayee".Nikhat Kazmi of The Times of India rated it 4/5 and said, "The film basically anchors its plot in two classic tales — The Mahabharata and The Godfather — to create an engrossing diatribe on India's political system where democracy may prevail, but not in its purest form." Anupama Chopra of NDTV rated it 3/5 and said "Jha creates a real sense of the machinations and sordid deals that fuel politics but then hobbles it with outlandish twists and some decidedly 'filmy' moments". Rajeev Masand of IBN said, "Raajneeti is thrilling and gripping for the most part, even though it does lose steam in its final act. For the superb acting, and for the exciting dramatic highs, it's a film I recommend you do not miss."
In the U.S., Rachel Saltz of The New York Times said, "[T]he film — full of romance, intrigue and fraternal strife — is too diffuse to score political points. Or to have much impact."[11] Robert Abele of the Los Angeles Times found that while it aimed "for something trenchant about thwarted destiny and ugly ambition in modern Indian democracy", it "mostly winds up with a convoluted and tonally awkward Godfather rehash, with nary a character worth rooting for," and that "Kapoor's performance is stony rather than calculating...." Frank Lovece of Film Journal International said, "More pulpy than political, this Godfather-ripoff Hindi electoral drama is a candidate for oblivion in U.S. theatres. ... t all eventually becomes so ridiculous and over-the-top violent that there is nobody, nobody, to root for

Box office
Raajneeti recorded an opening of nearly Indian Rupee  10.50 crore net on its first day. He specified that Raajneeti "became the third Bollywood movie this year to lead all limited releases in its first weekend," following My Name is Khan and Kites. In Australia and New Zealand, Raajneeti surpassed the opening weekend record set by 3 Idiots

Katrina Kaif Biography

Katrina Kaif Biography
Standing tall at 5â??8â??, a lovely peaches n cream complexion, and an hour-glass figure, the beautiful and elegant Katrina Kaif stands apart and is not one to go unnoticed. Not surprisingly the modeling world rolled down the red carpet for her, movie offers are pouring in, and she is linked with one of the hottest and most controversial Khans of Bollywood.

Roots
Katrina Kaif, a name now familiar to Indian movie-goers, was born on 16 July 1984 in Hong Kong. Her parents are both British citizens, while her father is a Kashmiri who later acquired British citizenship. She lived in Hawaii before moving to UK and is now setting up a home and career in India.

Katrina has been Salman Khanâ??s long term girlfriend. Despite several speculations about the coupleâ??s break-up, all seems well.

On the Runway
Kaifâ??s first taste of modeling happened in Hawaii when she was 14 and was part of a jewelry campaign. Thereafter, she continued modeling in London. In India, there was no dearth of offers and she appeared in ads for Veet, Lakme, LG, Samsung to name a few. She was also the face of Lakme India Fashion Week 2005. She took the number one spot in FHM India's 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll and also won the Best Female Style Icon at the IIFA Awards.

Katrina was chosen to represent Barbie in India.

On to the Big Screen
Kaif, while in London, was spotted by Kaizad Gustad and was cast in his 2003 release Boom, which sank without a trace. Movie offers initially trickled in owing largely to her unfamiliarity with Indian languages. The very next year, in 2004, she played the part of Princess Malliswari in the Telugu movie Malliswari. She had another Telugu film, Allari Pidugu in 2005, along with two Hindi movies, Ram Gopal Vermaâ??s Sarkar and as one of Salman Khanâ??s love interests in David Dhawanâ??s Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. Both movies did well at the box office. She won the Stardust Breakthrough Performance Award for Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. She co-starred with Akshay Kumar in Humko Deewana Kar Gaya, in 2006. Besides this she was a part of a Malayalam movie Balram Vs Taradas.

Five releases marked 2007. Her movie Namaste London with Akshay Kumar, was one of the yearâ??s top hits, for which she did her own dubbing. The other three movies were Apne with the Deols, David Dhawanâ??s Partner with Salman Khan and Govinda and Welcome, all of which performed well at the box office. Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif (born 16 July 1984 is a British Indian actress and former model who appears in Indian films, mainly in the Hindi-language film industry. She has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films. She was voted the sexiest Asian woman in the world by Eastern Eye in the years 2008, 2009 and 2010. Being a British citizen, she works in India on an employment visa.

Early life

Kaif was born in Hong Kong[ to an Indian Kashmiri father, Mohammed Kaif, and an English mother, Suzanne Turquotte, both of whom are British citizens. Her parents divorced when she was very young. Kaif stated once, "my dad, unfortunately, and not out of choice, has had no influence on our upbringing, on our religious or social or moral bearings." Kaif has seven siblings. From Hong Kong, she and her family moved to China, then to Japan. Then from Japan (by boat) to France when she was 8, and also moved to Switzerland, Kraków, Berlin, Belgium, and many other East European countries where she and her family were there for a few months each. Then they moved to Hawaii, and eventually later moved to her mother's home country, England. It is widely speculated that Kaif is from London, when in fact, she only lived there for three years before finally moving to Mumbai.

Career

Kaif began her modeling career at the age fourteen; her first job was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London under a contract with the Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses such as La Senza and Arcadius, and even walked on the London Fashion Week.

Kaif's London modeling-work led to her discovery by London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom (2003). She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modeling assignments. However, filmmakers were initially hesitant to sign her because she could not speak Hindi.

Kaif saw moderate success with the 2005 film Sarkar, where she played the bit part of Abhishek Bachchan's girlfriend, and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005), where she was paired opposite Salman Khan.

In 2007, Kaif appeared in her first major hit movie, Namastey London, wherein she starred as a British Indian girl alongside Akshay Kumar for the second time after the box office letdown Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006). Her run of hit films continued with Apne, Partner, and Welcome.

In 2008, she played the villain role for the first time in Abbas-Mustan's hit action thriller Race. She played the role of Saif Ali Khan's secretary who is secretly in love with his hostile stepbrother (played by Akshay Khanna). Kaif's second release of the year was Anees Bazmee's production Singh Is Kinng, opposite Akshay Kumar. The film was a big success at the box office. Kaif's final release of the year, Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj, was a commercial failure, but its script has made its way into the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for artistic merits, original screenplay with a substance, and the film as a whole.
Kaif's first release for 2009, New York, with John Abraham, was a critical and commercial success. Kaif's performance was highly regarded. Wrote critic Taran Adarsh, "Katrina gives you the biggest surprise. Known for her glamour roles, Katrina proves that she can deliver if the director and writer offer her a role of substance. She's outstanding. In fact, people will see a new, different Katrina this time."

She next played a bit role as a biker chick in the multi-starrer action film Blue, popularly known as India's first underwater thriller, which performed decently at the box office. The film was not successful.

At the year's end, she appeared in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, with Ranbir Kapoor, and De Dana Dan with Akshay Kumar. Both films were commercial successes.

Kaif's first film of 2010 was Raajneeti, where she appeared opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The film did extremely well at the box office, receiving a blockbuster status.[24] She is also starred in Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar. The film was released on 24 December 2010. Although the film was not successful, Kaif's item song Sheila Ki Jawani was a hit.

Aside from film acting, she has a number of endorsement deals, and is one of the top paid Bollywood actresses in this respect.

Voice

It should be noted that due to her poor knowledge of Hindi (and other Indian languages), Katrina Kaif's voice has often been dubbed over by another actress for many of her early films. With the exception of De Dana Dan, all her films since New York feature her real voice. Earlier films in which her real voice is also heard are Singh Is Kinng, Namastey London and Boom.
